Our commitment extends beyond providing meals! We strive to create a welcoming, engaging, and inclusive dining experience that brings the HWS community together. From listening to student feedback and introducing exciting dining events to creating employment opportunities and fostering meaningful campus partnerships, we continually look for ways to enhance student life through food, connection, and community.

Student Feedback

Student feedback plays an essential role in shaping the HWS Dining experience. We provide several opportunities for students to share their thoughts, suggestions, and concerns, including monthly Student Dining Committee meetings, comment cards, our biannual Customer Experience Survey, and the online Website Feedback Form. These resources allow students to communicate what they enjoy, identify areas for improvement, and suggest new ideas for dining across campus. Just as importantly, our supervisors and managers are available throughout our dining locations to answer questions, listen to concerns, and work directly with students to find solutions.

Dining Events

Dining is about more than what’s on the menu, it’s about creating experiences students look forward to! Throughout the academic year, HWS Dining brings excitement to Saga with station takeovers featuring student favorites, such as Nashville chicken sandwiches at the Grill, macaroni and cheese bars at Twists, and nostalgic chicken patty sandwiches at the Deli. Our themed Community Appreciation Dinners are another highlight, bringing the HWS community together to enjoy special menus and celebrate campus life.

Beyond these signature events, holiday specialties, seasonal promotions, and limited-time offers give students something new to discover throughout the year. These experiences introduce new flavors, celebrate special occasions, and add variety to everyday dining. Dining also hosts interactive, friendly competitions and activities that encourage students to participate, connect with their peers, and create lasting memories.

Student Employment

Dining provides students with employment opportunities that extend beyond the paycheck. Working alongside our dining professionals, student employees gain valuable hands-on experience in customer service, teamwork, communication, time management, food service operations, and problem-solving. These positions help students develop transferable skills that can benefit them throughout their academic journeys and future careers. Student employment also allows individuals to build relationships with coworkers, become part of a team, and contribute directly to the campus community.

One & All

The One & All philosophy reflects the importance of bringing people together and creating a sense of belonging across the HWS community. Saga serves as a shared space where students can gather with friends, meet new people, exchange ideas, and build connections beyond the classroom. Whether sharing a meal at Saga, catching up between classes, or joining others at a campus dining event, students have opportunities to connect with people from different backgrounds and experiences.

Campus Partnerships

Collaboration with campus departments and student organizations allows Dining to create experiences that reflect the interests, cultures, and priorities of our students. During International Education Week, we partner with Intercultural Affairs (IC) to bring authentic, student-selected recipes to Saga, celebrating the diverse cultures and culinary traditions represented within the HWS community. Our collaboration with Student Engagement and the Campus Activities Board (CAB) brings additional energy to campus through Cellar Pub gaming nights.

Sustainability is another important part of our campus partnerships. Through the Student Food Recovery Program, Dining works with student partners to support food recovery efforts and help reduce food waste while contributing to the well-being of the campus community.
